Experience: General competencies of Prof. Mastino include: immunological aspects of infections, apoptosis and viral infections, herpesviruses, human retroviruses, antiviral therapy, innate immunity, mechanisms of action and combination activity of thymosins, innovative approaches for cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. Publication: He is author of 137  printed papers and over 175 communications at international or national meetings. Total citations: 2122. H-index: 28  (on 01/09/2014). Patents: He is co-inventor of three international patents and one national patent for antiviral compounds. International collaboration: Prof. Mastino has developed, since many years, a strong global network of partnerships and collaborators with prestigious European and American laboratories in the fields of retroviruses, herpesviruses and apoptosis.
