Dr. Enrico Sanjust

Enrico Sanjust gained his MsC in Chemistry at Cagliari State University (Italy) in 1980, and received his PhD (Biotecnology) from Cranfield Institute of Technology (now Cranfield University) in 1995. He has been Researcher at Cagliari State University form 1984, and then Associate Professor of Biochemistry at the same Institution since 2001.He worked on some cuproenzymes such as plant amineoxidases, and chemical models for the building of their active site. Later, he focused on fungal laccases, and polyphenoloxidases, and investigated the role of some ligninolytic edible basidiomycetes in biodegradation of biomasses and bioremediation of recalcitrant wastes. Nowadays, he also studies synthetic redox-active metalloporphyrins and their possible application, also in the form of heterogenized catalysts, in treatment and detoxification of polluted industrial wastewaters. He is author or co-author of more than scientific papers, and of some patents.
