Prof. Ni-Bin Chang


Prof. Ni-Bin Chang is the Professor of Environmental Systems Engineering having held this post in the US since 2002. He received a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from National Chiao-Tung University in Taiwan in 1983, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Environmental Systems Engineering from Cornell University in 1989 and 1991, respectively, in the U.S. He is the director of the Stormwater Management Academy and a porfessor with the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Construction Engineering at University of Central Florida in the U.S. He is a Professional Engineer in the US with over twenty years’ experience in research, teaching and consulting. He is a Fellow of the International Society of Optics and Photonics (SPIE), Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), and a Foreign Member of the European Academy of Sciences (EAS).


He has been working on the core area of “Environmental Sustainability, Water Resources Management, and Systems Analysis” with various socio-technical approaches. Prof. Chang has served on a number of professional and government positions. Prof. Chang served as the program director of the Hydrologic Sciences Program and Cyber-innovation Sustainability Science and Engineering Program at the National Science Foundation in the U.S. from 2012 to 2014. He has served as an expert on different panels to review proposals and address research needs. He is currently an editorial board member, an editor, or an associate editor of 20+ international journals in the areas of water resources, environmental engineering and science, environmental management, earth system sciences, and sustainability.
