Dr. Sophia Wan-Pyo Hong
I was educated at the University of Reading in England (United Kingdom) for my Master’s and Ph.D degrees (1994-1999). My M.Sc. tutor and Ph.D. supervisor were Dr. Stephen L. Jury at the Univ. of Reading. I had also experienced for collaboration with Prof. Mark W. Chase and Dr. Paula J. Rudall in the Jodrell Lab at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (Kew Gardens) while I was pursuing for Ph. D degree at Reading. After I had received my doctoral degree in 1999, I had started working as a post-doctoral researcher at Michigan State University, East Lansing in U.S.A.. Then, I moved for specializing Biomedicine areas in various world-class University Medical Centers and Research Institutes including Howard Hughes Medical Research Institute (Dept. of Biochemistry, Rice University, Houston, Texas, USA), Rochester University Medical Center (URMC), Rochester, New York, USA), and Arizona Cancer Center (AZCC, Univ. of Arizona, Tucson, USA). Afterwards, I had gave lectures (Cell Biology and Biochemistry) at the University of Pennsylvania (UPENN, Philadelphia, USA) between Fall, 2007 and Summer, 2008. Since I returned to S. Korea 2010, I had done research at Seoul National University (Dept. of Pharmacy) and have been giving lectures at Chungbuk National University (Cheongju, S. Korea).
